RICHARD REED, Veteran Services Director
Richard directs the daily operations of the Office of Veterans Affairs. His primary responsibility is to ensure that Vermont's veterans receive the state and federal benefits they earned. He is a veteran of the US Coast Guard having served from 1971 to 1975 including a tour of duty in SE Asia Section (Thailand). He has worked with veterans for over 20 years initially as a Local Veterans Employment Representative, then 12 years as a Veteran Service Officer. He is the webmaster for the Veteran Services Directory.
RHONDA BOYCE, Veteran Services Clerk
Rhonda provides clerical support to all major programs within the Office of Veterans Affairs. She also works directly with the Service Officer Program providing clerical support and tending to many of the day to day administrative issues of the program.
CRYSTAL CARRIGAN, Veteran Service Officer II
Crystal is an accredited veteran service officer with many years of hands on experience working with veterans, and as a service officer. She is responsible for the Veterans Benefits program for the Office of Veterans Affaires to ensure that Vermont veterans or their families receive the benefits earned by their service. She handles initial claims through appeals work on behalf of Vermont's veterans. She is also an Air Force Veteran and our Women Veterans Coordinator.
JACQUI CARLOMAGNO, State Approving Agent
Jacqui is the State Approving Agency for schools and training program who want to accept GI Bill students. She provides statewide leadership and technical assistance to schools and training providers in the general area of veteran education. She approves educational, professional and vocational programs for use with benefits under the GI Bill, and assures continued compliance with VA education program standards.
Ed Burkart, Veteran Services Administrator
This position provides administrative support to all of the major programs at the Office of Veterans Affairs. Primary responsibilities involve managing the administrative operations of the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery, organizing and providing support for Property Tax Exemption verification and a myriad of other administrative tasks. This position is the Cemetery Advisory Board liaison for our office.
LESLEY MARTIN-LEWIS, Veteran Service Officer I
Lesley is the newest staffer in the office. Starting on June 18, 2012 she is a Service Officer Trainee. She comes to us with a strong background in clinical and direct services to individuals and families in crisis and promises to be a great fit in our team. She is recognized by the VA General Counsel as a Certified Veteran Service Officer
PAUL PERREAULT, Veteran Services Clerk
Paul also provides clerical support to all the major programs at the Office of Veterans Affairs. He will retire from the U.S. Army National Guard as a Sergeant First Class and served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is the Governor's Veterans Advisory Council and Veterans Service Organizations liaison for our office.
ROBERT DURKEE, Cemetery Foreman
Bob is a Vermont Technical College employee who supervises the maintenance staff at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery. He is involved with every aspect of the cemetery, from horticulture to mortuary affairs. More than anyone, he's the one that keeps our cemetery looking great.
